Talbot 10
Tourer / Rootes Talbot / Sunbeam-Talbot ‘Concours’ £18,495

car with only 4 owners from new and fully restored to virtually concours
standard by the last keeper!

The
current V5C shows 2 owners and the old buff log book shows a further 2, the
first owner of which was a Mrs Pugh Jones of Llangollen whom kept it for nearly
30 years. In 1966 it was then acquired by a Frank Boris of Whitchurch before
passing to a John Carter of Shrewsbury
whom then later sold it to the current vendor in 1989.

Acquired
in a dismantled state, the car has been gradually restored by the enthusiast owner
over the last 20 years and is now mechanically perfect and just splendid on the
eye and comes with a full photographic restoration album.

Virtually
every part of the car has been restored or replaced as required, including most
importantly a new ash frame, new wiring loom, new braking system complete, full
suspension, all moving parts, fully retrimmed red leather interior, new
exceptional quality hood, tonneau cover and side screens, full bare metal
repaint, replated chrome work, reset colour coded wire wheels etc……..

A
fully rebuilt later Talbot 3-bearing sidevalve engine was fitted due to the
owner deciding the original 2-bearing engine was too weak and slow for
continental tours.

The
vehicle is finished to an exceptional standard and has just completed an 80
mile journey without missing a beat……..

Finished
in resplendent red period paint work with matching wire wheels, including the
spare and a matching full red leather interior with black mohair hood and wet
weather gear, the colour combination certainly looks in period and suits the
vehicle extremely well.

A history file accompanies the
vehicle containing current V5C (detailing the current owner acquired the
vehicle on 2nd September 1989), Old style buff log book, Fresh HPI
check report (clear), original handbook, current MOT, & album of
photographic restoration.

Current MOT running to 14th
June 2012 naturally with NO advisories and a fresh MOT at the point of sale if required plus free historic road tax.

Matching Avon
Tyres fitted to all 5 wire wheels.

Our
technician has just undertaken a multi point check, a service and fettled the
vehicle; we can confirm this car is on the button and ready to go with no
issues what so ever!

The
vehicle was built by Talbot London just as
Rootes Bros were renaming the Marque Sunbeam Talbot and moving manufacture to Coventry - England.

When
Clement Talbot (UK) went bust in the early 1930s, they were taken over by
Rootes Bros and the name used (later as Sunbeam- Talbot) to produce a sports
version of the little Hillman Minx based on the earlier Aero Minx which was
sold in very limited numbers. Actual Talbot 10s are quite rare as Rootes
quickly incorporated the Sunbeam name. Some 1,748 were produced in total before
production came to an end in 1938.

Based
on the Talbot 105 body and with a 4 cylinder water cooled 1185cc side valve
engine mated to a 4 speed gear box many people thought it was one of the best
looking English sports cars of the 1930’s and was promoted as ‘Britain’s Most Exclusive
Light Car’. We certainly concur with this view as the vehicle looks
exceptionally well proportioned and elegant with period charm.

The vehicle is in concours
condition, with good detailing and just splendid on the eye, and has just
completed an 80 mile journey without missing a beat and has obviously been maintained
and subsequently restored by Talbot enthusiasts through out its life to date
with no expense being spared.  This must
be a blue chip investment and is certainly better than having your money
earning very little interest in the bank!
