Welcome to the auction for my 2litre Ford pinto powered toyota Kp30/1000.The car has 6 months MOT left but no Tax. However i could tax the car at buyers expense so that it could be driven away.I did the engine conversion myself and whilst it certainly wont win any beauty contests, it is solid and reliable and i used it for a 6 months as my daily driver. The car now has vastly more BHP than the original 1000 managed to produce and driving through the rear wheels makes for a lot of drifting fun on wet roads (and dry ones if your brave enough). I did think about welding the differential to make this easier, but not knowing what a welded diff is like to live with, i decided against it. I would estimate the engine produces around 100 BHP, but this power is very easy to increase as there are many companies out there that tune these engines. It is a '205' block which is the most sort after version of this engine, with strengthened internals identical to the Cosworth YB bottom end.It is also fitted with a larger than standard Webber 38 dgas carburetor, which i bought new a few years ago.The conversion was done on a budget, and was simply a means of getting the car on the road again. most parts are recycled from other cars and with a little money and a little knowhow could be improved. Whilst it is perfectly usable and safe there are a few knocks and vibrations which could do with sorting: One is the bottom of the sump which taps on the crossmember when the car goes over bumps, this is felt through the steering (stiffer engine mounts would solve this). and the second is the exhaust which under engine breaking sometimes vibrates against the gearbox mounting.It has only once failed to start but I've fitted new points and condenser and it starts fine again.The interior is very good, with only the transmission tunnel needing a little cosmetic attention where the old gear stick used to come through.The tyres are very narrow which may not sound like a plus point but this does make it possible to oversteer at quite low speeds. The perfect, SAFE introduction to drifting. All clocks and gauges work, but the speedo reads too fast due to the small tyres on the back.Standard suspension.Standard brakes, which cope fine with the increased power (discs at the the front and drums at the rear).2  new sills are included in the sale.The log book still has the car listed as a 1000cc engine so will need changing with the DVLA. I never managed to get round to doing it. The original engine and gearbox are included in the sale if the winning bidder wants them. The engine stopped running due to bad compression on two cylinders. The gearbox was perfect and changed gear beautifully.The bad bits.The body is very sound apart from the front wings and sills. The worst wing was the passenger side which had rusted right through just behind the headlight. i took this off, removed all the rust then fiber-glassed and filled the hole. The previous owner said he had done the same at the other side but i cant confirm this. These wings should last a good few years but id keep my eyes open for any new ones. The sills have some rust on the seem where they meet the floor pan, i really don't think this would fail an MOT but i cant guarantee this. I would sort this out before it gets worse and as stated earlier the car comes with two new sills to do so.Also the bottom of the doors show some bubbling.The rest of the car seems in very good shape and i cant see any welded patches underneath.I would strongly advise a visit to view the car as with any customized vehicle, people's tastes and standards vary.To sum up. This is a chance to own a very rare car with a cheep, reliable and almost unbreakable engine. With a little work it has the potential to be a very quick sleeper, a drift car, or else just sort out the niggles and have a very comfortable everyday classic.
